At just 20, Matthew Lane is headed to federal prison after helping unleash what authorities call the biggest cyberattack in U.S. education history — a breach of PowerSchool that put the personal data of 60 million children and 10 million teachers at risk, triggered briefings inside the White House Situation Room, and forced a ransom payout said to be in the millions. Lane, once a teen hacker, now says flatly: “I think I need to go to prison for what I did.”
