BURNHAM PLAN AXES DIGITAL ID
Andy Burnham is set to scrap plans for a government-issued digital ID for every British adult as he takes over as prime minister Monday, ditching a costly scheme in favor of what his office calls the “daily priorities” facing people across the country. The reversal comes after earlier Labour plans were already watered down under Sir Keir Starmer, and now the full drop frees up time and resources for the cost of living and local economies instead of a sweeping national database push.
