DEMUTH VS. KLOBUCHAR CLASH
Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth is projected to seize the Republican nomination for governor, shrugging off the party’s earlier endorsement of Kendall Qualls after a bitter convention fight and powering ahead in the primary. Demuth now heads into a high-stakes November clash with Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who won the Democratic primary, setting up a hard-edged battle for control of a deeply divided state. Demuth called it an “opportunity” to move Minnesota forward as Qualls conceded and the GOP falls in line behind a candidate the party once tried to pass over.
