Spirit Airlines is on the brink of collapse, with creditors reportedly ready to pull the plug and dissolve the carrier potentially as soon as today, a move that could leave thousands of booked passengers stranded at airports with little warning. The budget airline, already in Chapter 11 after two bankruptcy filings in less than a year, bet its survival on stable fuel prices and fuller planes — but jet fuel has surged since the war with Iran, while capacity has slipped to about 74 percent, deepening fears the airline cannot survive much longer. Spirit says it is operating normally for now, but with no timeline and liquidation looming, travelers are being left in limbo as the clock runs out.
