A powerful 7.4 earthquake ripped through western Colombia early Monday, jarring cities across the country and sending residents fleeing homes and buildings as the Pacific Ring of Fire delivered another sharp warning. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck near San José del Palmar at a depth of about 66.5 miles, with shaking felt in Bogotá, Medellín and Cali; authorities say there is no tsunami threat, but damage, injuries and deaths remain unconfirmed.
