The New York Times is under fire after the Trump White House flatly blasted a new report casting Vice President JD Vance as politically shaky and out of favor with the president. The Saturday piece, headlined “Is JD Vance the 2028 Front Runner? Trump Has Questions,” claims Trump doubts Vance can run a national campaign and even scorned his early opposition to the Iran war — but the article offers no evidence for the assertions. It also paints Vance as a compulsive social media fighter and says Chief of Staff Susie Wiles urged him to step back from online brawls, a portrayal the White House is now hammering as a flat-out smear.
