BULVERDE, Texas – A 15-year-old student shot a teacher during morning classes Monday at Hill Country College Preparatory High School in Comal County. The teacher was taken to a San Antonio hospital.

The student was pronounced dead at the scene. Comal County Sheriff Mark Reynolds explained that the student shot and killed himself shortly after shooting the teacher.

No update has been provided on the condition of the teacher.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting. Investigating authorities have not said what may have led to the shooting.

The school said on social media that it was placed on lockdown at 8:34 a.m., and the bell schedule listed online shows that classes start at 8:55 a.m.

“School was placed on lockdown right away to protect everyone on the campus, and the students were safely transported to Bulverde Middle School and reunited with their families,” explained Sheriff Reynolds.
