A sobering new study published in JAMA has sounded the alarm on a growing crisis plaguing America's youth: tech addiction. Tracking over 4,000 children from age 9 to 14, researchers discovered a troubling surge in dependency on mobile phones, social media, and video games—with 40% of kids showing signs of video game addiction alone. Even more chilling, those ensnared by digital obsession were found to be at significantly greater risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. This is not just a parenting issue—it's a cultural one, as children are handed smartphones and unfiltered access to toxic online environments that warp minds and destroy mental health. The findings should be a wakeup call to families and policymakers alike: unchecked screen time is not harmless distraction—it’s digital poison with deadly consequences.
