Eric Swalwell’s once-rising bid for California governor is in freefall. A cascade of staff resignations and endorsement withdrawals has hit the East Bay congressman after explosive sexual misconduct allegations surfaced, with leading Democrats now urging him to quit the race. Swalwell says the claims are “flat false” and accuses critics of trying to torpedo his campaign, but the damage is already deep: he entered the contest as a frontrunner, and now his campaign is fighting for survival just weeks before ballots go out.
