Keir Starmer is facing fresh political blowback after Labour whipped MPs to block a sleaze probe into his handling of the Lord Peter Mandelson scandal, surviving a Commons vote 335-0 but triggering a furious Tory attack. Conservative chairman Kevin Hollinrake declared the PM is “on the ropes” and claimed his time is nearly up, even as he admitted cost-of-living pain is still the real crisis for voters. The row now deepens pressure on Starmer over accusations serious enough, his critics say, to warrant Privileges Committee scrutiny.
