South Carolina’s election clock is colliding with a redistricting fight: early voting opens Tuesday, but lawmakers are racing to approve new congressional maps that could force some voters to cast a second ballot. The Senate has fast-tracked the plan after a rare weekend session, with a final vote expected Tuesday, and the House already on board. If passed, the new lines would redraw all seven U.S. House districts at Trump’s urging to create more Republican-leaning seats, and ballots already cast under the old map could be tossed — setting up a messy reset and a separate Aug. 18 primary.
