Social Security checks are headed for another bump, but it may not be enough to stop the squeeze. New forecasts point to a 2027 COLA of 3.6% to 3.7%, with the average retiree getting about $77 more a month — lifting benefits to roughly $2,103.41 — yet still leaving seniors about $597 short of average monthly living costs. AARP is pressing Congress and the president to raise benefits and overhaul the formula as inflation keeps hammering older Americans.
