Shutdown Looms as Trump-Congress Talks Stall
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is blaming the American people's healthcare woes and widespread layoffs on Republicans' refusal to pass a clean resolution. But with Sen. Rand Paul opposing the measure, the GOP needs Democratic support to avoid a government shutdown. Schumer is calling for a serious negotiation with President Trump, warning that if he continues to rant and yell, nothing will get done. Speaker Johnson agrees, accusing Democrats of holding the people hostage for their political gain. With no compromise in sight, it seems a government shutdown is looming if Trump can't help broker a deal. The American people deserve better than this political game-playing.
