Kansas City’s storm season is off to a brutal, warning-filled start, with the National Weather Service saying it has issued more warnings by late April than in any other year to this point — 252 total, including 215 severe thunderstorm warnings — as a relentless parade of systems keeps hammering the region. The usual peak is still ahead in May and June, but Kansas City already ranks near the top nationally, trailing only Norman, Oklahoma, and Lincoln, Illinois, with forecasters warning the danger isn’t from one monster storm, but from repeated rounds of severe weather tracking the same deadly path.
