Chuck Schumer is throwing a wrench into the Republican reconciliation machine, vowing a full-scale Democratic assault on a $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund he blasted as a “slush fund.” The money could go to people claiming the legal system was weaponized against them, and that’s set off alarm bells in both parties. In a fiery Dear Colleague letter, Schumer said Democrats will “shut the fund down” and force Republicans to vote on it, warning there’ll be “no escape hatch,” no backroom cover, and no easy way out as the fight barrels onto the Senate floor.
