A sweeping salmonella scare is hitting shelves and menus: Taylor Farms is recalling prepared foods with jalapeños, including salsas and guacamole, from Walmart, Kroger, Whole Foods, Target, Trader Joe’s and Hannaford in about 20 states after fresh peppers were pulled by Coast Citrus Distributors. The CDC and FDA say the outbreak has already sickened 345 people in 27 states and sent 36 to the hospital, while investigators have also tied imported jalapeños to restaurants including Chipotle and Qdoba. Taylor Farms says it has stopped sourcing from the Sinaloa, Mexico farmer identified as a possible source.
