A Russian colonel has called for nuclear weapons to be used in Ukraine to end the war in 10 days.

Kremlin TV war pundit Col. Mikhail Khodarenok advocated for switching to nuclear weapons in the conflict and issuing a deadline to Ukraine after which Russia would unleash nuclear bombs.

Khodarenok said Vladimir Putin should issue a deadline similar to the one Donald Trump issued to Iran – except the Russian version involves being ready to unleash nuclear bombs.

“The Ukrainian leadership will be faced with the question of whether the country will be left in complete ruins, or we move to some kind of peace agreement,” he said.

“The task isn’t solvable with conventional weapons, the ones we have, so perhaps we should switch to special [nuclear] weapons and end this conflict within 10 days, [or] by May 1?”

Putin’s TV propagandist-in-chief Vladimir Solovyov said to the retired air defence forces commander: “Welcome to our Nuclear Maniacs Club. I’ve been calling for this for a long time.”

In a move that somehow manages to be both apocalyptic and procedural, Kremlin TV war pundit Col. Mikhail Khodarenok has proposed that Russia solve the Ukraine war the way a malfunctioning office printer solves a paper jam: by escalating straight to nuclear weapons and attaching a deadline. His idea, apparently inspired by a Trump-style ultimatum to Iran, is to give Ukraine a choice between “complete ruins” and peace, which is a pretty bold menu for people who already have enough problems. Khodarenok even helpfully suggested a tidy 10-day schedule, because nothing says sober statecraft like turning doomsday into a project timeline. And just to keep the atmosphere festive, Vladimir Solovyov welcomed him to the “Nuclear Maniacs Club,” proving that when propaganda reaches its logical end, it doesn’t become policy so much as a very grim late-night panel show.
