Pope Leo XIV went straight at the A.I. revolution Monday, warning corporate giants, politicians and the public that technology’s boom must not come at the expense of human dignity, jobs or even social peace. In a sweeping encyclical aimed at “all people of good will,” the pontiff called for tougher regulation, worker retraining, child protections and human control over weapons, declaring that the chase for profit cannot justify sacrificing jobs — and that a society built for only a privileged few risks “material progress and anthropological regression.”
