Mikie Sherrill says she will not hand over the names and personal details of 6,600 non-citizens wrongly registered to vote — including some 400 believed to have cast ballots — rejecting a Justice Department demand and calling it legally baseless, while DOJ’s Harmeet Dhillon is firing back that the state has a duty to keep ineligible voters off the rolls and that the department will get the information “through all legal means.” The clash deepens an already explosive probe into possible vote dilution, as Sherrill blames a software error for the mistake and election officials scramble to clean up the fallout.
