A Muslim-led master-planned city in Texas just cleared a key legal hurdle, with a Travis County judge ruling the state must honor its deal with developers behind the controversial “Meadow” project outside Dallas. The East Plano Islamic Community’s plan — 1,000 homes, a mosque, schools and green space near Josephine — has sparked fierce backlash from locals and from Gov. Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton, who accuse it of trying to impose Sharia law. But the Texas Workforce Commission, which had stalled the project amid a fair-housing probe, was ordered to comply, handing developers a major win and pushing the fight over the future of the project into a new, higher-stakes phase.
