A 20-year-old murder suspect who was mistakenly released from a California detention facility has been taken back into custody more than five months later.

MURDER SUSPECT ON THE RUN FOR MONTHS AFTER CUSTODY BLUNDER—Isaiah Andrews, 20, wanted for a brutal October 2025 fatal shooting, was mistakenly released from a California detention center in October and evaded authorities until caught this week in Missouri. The deadly error left a violent fugitive free, sparking outrage from the victim’s family and shining a harsh spotlight on law enforcement’s catastrophic failure to keep a homicide suspect locked up. Now facing first-degree murder charges back in Washington, Andrews’ release exposed dangerous cracks in the justice system and left a grieving mother demanding accountability for putting her family at risk.
