New York’s socialist surge is running headlong into a brutal reality: the rich are leaving. A new Citizens Budget Committee report says the state’s share of America’s millionaires has plunged from 12.7% in 2010 to 8.7% now — the steepest drop of any state — and the exodus has only worsened, with top earners fleeing faster than lower earners in recent years. For the rising Democratic Socialists of America movement, and Mayor Mamdani in particular, that’s a warning shot: the money is moving, and the political fallout could be huge.
