A deed-fraud ring hit Allegheny County hard, prosecutors say, with 45-year-old William Schneider now facing 86 forgery counts, 35 theft counts and more after allegedly using counterfeit notary stamps bought on Amazon to steal dozens of properties right out from under their owners; 57-year-old William Petruskie is accused of helping by setting up an LLC used on forged deeds. Investigators say the fake filings came in anonymous manila envelopes, used altered seals and Western Union money orders traced back to Schneider, who first denied everything before allegedly admitting he did it to take over properties, renovate them and “make his community better.”
