MEGA DINGHY HORROR: 173 CRAMMED, FIRE

Britain’s asylum system is under brutal strain as new figures lay bare the scale of the crisis: of about 178,845 claims since 2018, 44.5% were granted refugee status, 29.8% were rejected, 18.7% were withdrawn, and more than 7% are still unresolved. But the shock is on the Channel itself — smugglers are cramming ever more migrants into boats, with 165 packed into one dinghy last week before that record was smashed by 173 people in a single “mega dinghy” that caught fire and capsized, forcing a rescue and return to France. With scrutiny mounting on Andy Burnham, the boats crisis is only getting bigger, bolder and more dangerous.
