A masked Corsican separatist group has come roaring back with a chilling warning for tourists and anyone dreaming of a second home on the island: stay away, or don’t expect to be safe. In a video released Thursday, around a dozen hooded members of the FLNC-UC stood armed with submachine-guns and rifles as a muffled voice declared that until their “national rights” are recognised, the message is simple — “stay at home.” The group blasted what it called an “insane” influx of around 5,000 foreigners a year moving to Corsica for work or property, most of them French, denouncing it as “rampant settlement-driven colonisation.” The hardline rhetoric comes against a backdrop of growing tensions over tourism and housing, and follows a history of FLNC-UC violence, including an attack on a house in October 2023.
