The University of Maryland-Baltimore is handing out a $4,000 stipend to medical students and clinicians for abortion training under a taxpayer-funded “Reproductive Health Fellowship,” a six-week program that teaches medication abortion, patient counseling and post-abortion care. The scheme runs through the state-subsidized MARCH program, created after Maryland’s 2022 abortion law and backed by a $10.6 million state grant in 2024 — but for that money, state records show just 17 clinicians completed training last year.
