In a stunning and deeply troubling interview, New York City mayoral candidate and self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani refused multiple opportunities to condemn the inflammatory and deeply offensive phrase “globalize the intifada”—a slogan widely recognized as a call to violence against Jews. Pressed repeatedly by NBC’s Kristen Welker, Mamdani dodged, deflected, and declined to denounce the term, saying he doesn’t “police language” and refusing to affirm what countless Jewish New Yorkers see as an incitement to terrorism.
