Japan’s defence minister has confirmed it has deployed its first long-range missiles in a southwest region near China.

The country is pushing to bolster its offensive capabilities since tensions with China have escalated over Taiwan.

The upgraded Type-12 missile has a range of about 1000 km, allowing it to now reach mainland China.
