Migrants fleeing war in Iran have arrived in France to cross the Channel to the UK – and say many more will be following them.

Migrants fleeing escalating conflict and repression in Iran have arrived in France, gathering near Calais and Dunkirk with the goal of crossing the Channel to the UK by small boats, as more refugees are expected to follow; this surge comes amid US- and Israel-led air strikes, the recent 12-day Israel-Iran war, and Iran's crackdown on protestors, prompting the EU's asylum agency to warn of a potentially unprecedented influx, with recent data showing 2,688 people in 42 boats crossing so far this year, including a peak of 605 arrivals on February 26.
