In a shocking interview with Tucker Carlson, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed that recent U.S.-authorized Israeli attacks nearly killed him and several high-level officials, targeting a meeting in what he implied was an assassination attempt. Pezeshkian, while insisting Iran remains open to new talks with Washington, cast serious doubt on America's trustworthiness after coordinated Israeli and U.S. military strikes earlier this year destroyed key Iranian nuclear infrastructure. He alleged that the Trump administration green-lit Israel's June 13 offensive, launching a chain of events that brought the region to the brink of wider war—just days before planned nuclear talks. In retaliation, Iran struck a U.S. base in Qatar after providing advance warning, a chilling sign of its calculated restraint. Now, Pezeshkian demands to know how Tehran can trust U.S. intentions in any future negotiations while Israel continues to act with what he suggests is American approval. With Iran halting cooperation with the IAEA and tensions rising, the Biden administration is left with a question it won’t answer: Is this what diplomacy looks like?
