In a stunning display of the dangerous consequences of far-left sanctuary policies, New Jersey State Police shockingly refused to take custody of an illegal alien fugitive accused of burglary and theft—even as he tried to turn himself in. This alarming incident stems from New Jersey’s radical sanctuary state directive, which bars cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities. Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada, one of four criminal illegal aliens who escaped from Newark’s Delaney Hall detention center, approached state police in Bridgeton on June 13 seeking to surrender. Yet, law enforcement turned him away, prioritizing ideology over public safety. It wasn’t until two days later that ICE and FBI agents managed to arrest him in Millville. This case highlights the grave threat sanctuary policies pose to the rule of law and the safety of American communities, as dangerous criminals are shielded rather than apprehended.
