HUMAN SMUGGLER ILLEGAL ALIEN PLEADS GUILTY
Eduardo Domingo Renoj-Matul, an illegal alien living in Los Angeles, has pleaded guilty to running one of the largest human smuggling rings in the U.S., allegedly smuggling about 20,000 people from Guatemala through Mexico into the country for fees between $15,000 and $18,000, using a network of drivers and safe houses; if fees weren’t paid, he and his co-conspirators held migrants hostage, highlighting the brutal and criminal nature of his operation.
