The showdown with Iran is turning into a maritime chokehold: a US blockade on ships entering and leaving Iranian ports is set to begin within hours, after talks collapsed and Trump blasted Tehran for refusing to drop its nuclear ambitions. The White House says only traffic to and from elsewhere will be allowed through the Strait of Hormuz, even as Iran has effectively closed the critical waterway in response to US-Israeli strikes. Trump vowed the Navy would interdict vessels that paid Iran’s “illegal toll,” raising the stakes in a fast-moving crisis that could rattle global shipping.
