More than 600,000 Arizona voter files were ripped off Maricopa County’s election system in the run-up to the 2020 presidential vote, and now declassified documents show the suspected hacker admitted it to the FBI — yet the Biden Justice Department and local prosecutors still declined to bring charges. The breach, flagged as the biggest cyber incident in a U.S. intelligence log around Election Day, exposed files that included sensitive information on domestic violence victims, judges and law enforcement officers, raising fresh alarm over election security and the failure to prosecute an attack that federal agents say they spent significant resources investigating.
