Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon signed a fetal heartbeat abortion ban into law, prohibiting abortions after about six weeks, but voiced strong reservations about the bill’s lack of exceptions for rape or incest, despite supporting its allowance for cases threatening the mother’s life or health. In a letter to state lawmakers, Gordon criticized the law’s failure to protect vulnerable populations, calling it an "unfortunate flaw," even as the state joins Florida, Georgia, Iowa, and South Carolina in pushing early abortion restrictions. The law follows a recent Wyoming Supreme Court ruling that struck down the state’s previous total abortion ban, marking a significant shift in Wyoming’s abortion landscape.
