WASHINGTON — President Trump told The Post that he’s considering forcing Congress to return for a rare special session to resolve the 45-day funding lapse for the Department of Homeland Security.

“It’s something that’s under consideration,” Trump told The Post.

Congress currently is on recess until April 14 — a date that would mark two full months of DHS workers going without pay.

Trump said that such a decision is unlikely to come before Easter on April 5.

“Maybe we’ll let them have Easter,” he quipped.

In a bombshell move, President Trump is threatening to break decades of political precedent by potentially calling Congress back from recess for a rare special session to end the crippling 45-day shutdown of Homeland Security funding, leaving thousands of workers unpaid and travelers stranded in chaos; while he’s temporarily kept TSA staff afloat with an executive order, the White House is zeroed in on forcing Democrats to fully fund the agency or face continued gridlock, reviving the rare but powerful presidential tool last used before the Civil War and setting the stage for a historic showdown just days after Easter.
