Federal prosecutors are now probing a New York City Council member and a top aide to Gov. Kathy Hochul in a widening corruption case tied to a homeless shelter nonprofit accused of stealing more than $1 million. Council member Farah Louis and her sister, Debbie Louis — Hochul’s assistant secretary for New York City governmental affairs — have not been charged, but investigators are reportedly examining whether they took bribes as part of the alleged scheme. Debbie Louis was placed on leave last week after the governor learned of the probe, while three of the four people charged in the newly unsealed indictment pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.
