FDA gives the green light to the first U.S. flu shot built on mRNA technology, approving Moderna’s mFlusiva for adults 50 and older after a late-stage trial showed it was about 27% more effective than a standard shot. The move marks a major shift in influenza prevention and puts the same messenger-RNA platform behind the Covid vaccines into the annual flu fight — though the agency is making Moderna run an additional trial in older adults before the story is finished.
