The whole arrangement is a little masterclass in bureaucratic absurdity—an asylum system designed to protect people in danger, now apparently forced to compete with the UK’s own homegrown theater department, where the plot twist is that everyone knows the performance is fake but still wants a receipt. Naturally, the Home Office vows the “full force of the law,” which is the sort of grave, official phrase that always sounds much sturdier right up until it meets an industry selling identity by the pound.
