A Virginia school district already under fire for letting a 19-year-old illegal immigrant enroll in high school and allegedly sexually assault multiple girls is now hiring a global law firm to investigate the scandal and advise it through the fallout, records show. Fairfax County Public Schools, one of the nation’s largest systems, is paying up to $1,850 an hour as outrage mounts over claims the district got dozens of complaints before the student was finally arrested. Federal authorities say the suspect, an El Salvadoran who entered the U.S. illegally in 2024, is 19; state officials say 18. Either way, the case is exploding into a costly, high-stakes crisis for a sprawling $3.9 billion bureaucracy.
