It’s time to spring forward. Beginning in the early morning hours this Sunday, the vast majority of the United States will enter daylight saving time.

Most states will set their clocks one hour ahead, or their digital devices will automatically change. The end result? We’ll lose an hour of sleep, and, in the long term, sunset and sunrise will be pushed an hour later, until the clocks fall back an hour in November.

This Sunday, most of the United States will spring forward by setting clocks one hour ahead to begin daylight saving time, resulting in an hour less of sleep but more evening daylight until clocks revert in November; however, not all states or territories observe this, with places like Hawaii, most of Arizona, and several U.S. territories opting out, amid ongoing debates and efforts by some lawmakers to abolish the practice altogether, while internationally, countries such as Canada’s British Columbia are moving toward permanent daylight saving time.
