U.S. authorities, working with international partners, have seized more than 2,040 pounds of cocaine and nearly 5,800 pounds of marijuana in three maritime busts, a stark hit to traffickers moving drugs by sea. The latest intercept came after a fast-moving chase with Panama, while separate operations with Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic netted more smugglers, more cargo, and a disrupted transnational route. Since the Trump administration took office, drug seizures have climbed sharply, underscoring an escalating fight on the waterways.
