Mediators are racing to keep the U.S.-Iran ceasefire alive as the clock ticks toward next week’s deadline, with regional officials saying there is now an “in principle agreement” to extend the fragile truce and reopen talks — even as a senior Iranian military official threatens to choke off regional trade unless Washington lifts its naval blockade. The deal remains hanging by a thread: the U.S. says it has not formally signed off, the blockade stays in place, and both sides are still trading hard warnings that could blow up the week-old calm at any moment.
