New Hampshire’s campus carry push appears dead after HB1793 was gutted by Senate amendments and then left to languish, with lawmakers unwilling to compromise in conference committee. The bill — which would have stripped public colleges and universities of their power to block Second Amendment rights on campus and barred special permits for lawful carry — had sailed through the House 188-165 and still had momentum earlier this year. Instead, the Senate slapped on a “poison pill” that wiped out the core protections, sparking a standoff that now looks like a quiet burial for a bill supporters said simply aimed to extend rights to campus that already exist just beyond the boundary line.
