Labour-run Cambridge City Council is facing backlash after unveiling a £1million public toilet block on Silver Street that includes three squat-style lavatories “preferred by some international visitors” — and then slapping a £1 fee on each visit. The old 1980s block, repeatedly flooded by the River Cam, has been replaced, but locals say the new setup is “crazy,” with one resident scoffing that she’d rather have “normal” toilets than pay a pound to squat.
