Hundreds of thousands of migrants are racing to lock in British citizenship before any new restrictions hit, in a stampede now being held up as a stark warning from the post-Brexit “Boriswave.” More than 312,000 citizenship applications were filed from March 2025 to 2026 — a record and up 20 percent from the prior year — while another 331,000 sought Indefinite Leave to Remain, the gateway to citizenship and expanded welfare access. India led the surge, followed by Pakistan and Nigeria, as Britain faces the mounting consequences of a migration wave that critics say is already reshaping the country.
