Brace yourself: the Farmers’ Almanac is warning that winter 2026-2027 could bring a jarring split-screen season, with repeated storms, raw rain and heavy, wet snow in some regions while others see milder stretches shattered by quick cold snaps. El Niño is expected to drive wetter-than-normal conditions across much of the South, raising the risk of sleet, freezing rain and major snow events when cold air collides with moisture, while the West, northern Plains, Upper Midwest and Great Lakes may sit near normal overall — but still face plenty of winter trouble.
