Florida Republicans have chosen their standard-bearer in a race with major stakes: Rep. Byron Donalds crushed a crowded GOP field Tuesday night to win the nomination for governor, setting up a November clash with Democrat David Jolly in a state that has not elected a Democratic governor since 1994. Donalds, backed early by President Trump, finished near 49 percent in preliminary results, well ahead of Lt. Gov. Jay Collins at 25 percent, with James Fishback and Paul Renner far behind.
